What Is Boppin’ Babies?
Boppin’ Babies is a music early learning program for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers and their parents conducted with a music therapy focus.
Boppin’ Babies music groups are designed by Registered Music Therapist and internationally recognised researcher Vicky Abad.
Our music early learning program supports and enhances your baby and toddlers’ development.
We focus on using music to encourage and support:
- sensory integration
- social skill development
- creativity and emotional expression
- speech and language skills
- gross and fine motor coordination, and confidence to move
- cognitive concepts and learning
- musical development
Boppin’ Babies also helps to nurture your relationship with your little one through musical play and interactions.
Boppin’ Babies provides parents with practical hands-on ideas for to help you feel more comfortable using music at home to stimulate, calm and interact with your child.
Most importantly, a focus on having fun is central to the program!
Building Families and Communities – getting back to basics
We offer a special time in the week where you and your child can come and experience the magic of making music together.
Families that make music together grow together. Our program helps fosters a stronger bond with your child and gives you access to ideas, resources while making new friends to make music with.
In today’s busy world we are always plugged in.
Our weekly music groups create a space where we get back to basics and nurture face to face interactions as we connect with each other and sing, dance and move to music, as well as make music with a range of tuned and untuned percussion instruments.
We don’t press play and crowd the environment with layers of sensory stimulation. We make and play music live, we sing, we nurture relationships and provide age appropriate multi-modal stimulation.
Boppin’ Babies is the brainchild of Vicky Abad.
Miss Vicky is a Registered Music Therapist with extensive national and international clinical experience in paediatric and early intervention music therapy and music early learning.
She has lectured in Australia and internationally and has achieved international recognition for her clinical work and research in the area of music therapy parent-child intervention and the impact of music early learning on family health and well-being.
Her book The Economic of Therapy which she edited with colleague Dan Thomas was published in April 2017.
Vicky is currently completing her PhD on the use of music in Australian families and is the President-Elect of the Australian Music Therapy Association.
Boppin Babies began in Brisbane in April 2007 with one group, when Vicky started a music group so that her daughter could attend with her father when she was 4-months old. Some of her friends brought their babies along too, and they were so happy with the program they told their friends. Vicky began offering more groups for older infants and toddlers.
Today Boppin’ Babies offers weekly music groups for children and parents at locations across Brisbane; childcare (Australia-wide), pre-prep and kindergarten music groups; music groups for children’s birthday parties; music lessons; and music therapy and creative arts services via Music For Being.
